A resident of Perry since 1983, Tom has been appointed to City Council twice by two different Mayors and elected to City Council by the voters three times.


A displaced "Yooper" from the western end of the Upper Peninsula, Tom found the small town-feel of Perry to be much like the home town he grew up in.


After graduating from Michigan State University, Tom entered the culinary field as an Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director, working for such corporations as Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, and others.


Since 1993, Tom has utilized his experience in food service as a business owner providing gourmet ingredients to the bakery, restaurant and culinary school trade.


Tom and his wife, Deb enjoy weekends at Bed & Breakfasts as well as spending time at their home on Lake Gogebic in the Upper Peninsula.

Now a resident of Perry, Greg has lived in the Lansing area since the spring of 1983. He and his wife, Diane, have five grandchildren and three grandchildren who live in the Perry area.

The oldest of four children, Greg grew up in the Alpena area in northeastern Michigan. He is employed as an accounting manager at State of Michigan Department of Human Services.

In 1973, Greg earned an Associates Degree in Commerce from Alpena Community College and in 1975 he earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration for management and accounting at Ferris State College.

He has also used him skills to teach computer classes, including: MS Word, MS Excel, Novell Word Perfect and Novell GroupWise as well as Intro to Computers.

Greg joined the Perry City Council in December 2006.

Terry has been a Perry resident for more than five years and lived in the Perry-area for more than 15 years. He retired from General Motors, served as a union representative for 15 years, and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam-era.


A divorced father of three and grandfather of four, Terry has donated time as a coach and umpire for summer recreation basketball and softball programs as well as high school softball and girls’ youth basketball programs.

Brad has lived in Perry since June 2003, and has lived in Michigan his entire life. He lives with his wife, Carrie, and their daughter Anna.

He has worked for the State of Michigan – Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) as a Transportation Planner since May 2003.

Brad earned a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University in May 2003. He also has dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Music and Psychology from Wayne State University (May 2000).

Brad has served on the City of Perry Planning Commission since November 2005, and was the coordinator and leader in redeveloping the City of Perry Master Plan (completed in November 2008). Using his professional training in Urban and Regional Planning, he coordinated with local officials, department heads, partnering agencies, and the general public to draft and approve a long-term vision for the City of Perry, as reinforced throughout the report.

He and his family are active members of Perry Church of the Nazarene, where he has served on the Sunday School Board. From October 2003 to June 2006, he also served as choir director for the Perry United Methodist Church in uptown Perry.

Mike Johnson spent most of his childhood approximately six miles south of town.

As a single man, he purchased his first home in Perry May 31, 1989. Since that time he got married, had a daughter and purchased the house where he and his family currently reside.

Mike has a wide range of work experience including farm work, shop work, sales and construction management.

He and his wife, Sue, have both been affected by the recent downsizing of companies due to the economic climate in Michigan.

“All of this life experience has led to what I believe to be a well-rounded background to help the City of Perry continue to be an excellent place to live, work, do business and raise a family,” said Mike.

Jo Anne graduated from Ferris State University with an Associate degree.

She met her husband, Ken, at Ferris State and the couple moved to the Perry area in 1974. In 1984, the couple purchased a home in the City.

Jo Anne retired from the State of Michigan in 2002 after serving 30 years in various accounting positions.

“I have become interested in our City government and attended Council meetings for the past three years,” said Jo Anne. “At this point the next logical step seemed to be volunteering to serve in a position for the City. I am pleased to be able to serve on our City Council.”
